![]() Go to the Sound settings in the Windows 10. Go to the Sound control in Control Panel and disable anything that alters the audio. ![]() Some have special settings just for headphones to do spatial effects or Dolby Atmos or EQ or add extra bass. It's best to just adjust the volume of the sub by the volume knob on the sub and leave it somewhere you feel comfortable with, you should also leave the Room Presets alone, they do nothing but add reverb and some just make the sub louder. Some sound device drivers try to do extra processing. You should also use Room Correction's ability to separately adjust signal to each speaker to have even more control over your sub's volume, if you need or want extra power to your sub you can negative the values of your other speakers and turn up your sub for double the input volume and vice versa. Since the option to adjust the cutoff is missing, you have to edit the registry to achieve this. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Realtek -> AECBF -> icrcAudioProcessingDemo -> AdvGCC and there is a value cut_off_frequency wich has a decimal value of 6000, I think that this value stands voor 60.00Hz, I changed to 20000 and after reboot my bass problem was solved" I found that you can change the crossover frequency through the register editor. And do NOT turn on Full Range Speakers if you don't have full range speakers as your bass will go to your regular speakers and your sub and it'll cut the signal to your sub in half, leave them off, turn off any speakers in your control panel you don't physically have and make sure none of them are set to full range and again, make sure Bass Management is enabled, Bass Management makes every freq below the cutoff frequency go to the sub instead of the speakers and Speaker Fill will just mirror your Stereo sources to your rear if you have rears, if not, leave it off.Ī user by the name of ladron on the ROG forums posted this: "I have a maximus V formula motherboard with a Realtek audio codec. As for the sub's crossover, just set it to the same as the one on your Realtek card so you don't get any dead spots. So you'll want a crossover of around 250Hz to get mid-to-low bass out of those speakers. So that's probably where your powerful bass is coming from out of nowhere because the default cutoff is 60Hz which doesn't make sense as only full range speakers can hit those frequencies, most decent bookshelf speakers usually hit around 80Hz, 60Hz is DEEP bass, but if you have only satellite speakers they'll maybe hit down to 250Hz and even then because of the size of their cone it probably won't be noticeable. ![]() I wanted to clarify that you MUST enable Bass Management and have the proper drivers for your Realtek card, another problem with Realtek cards is that there is no adjustable cutoff frequency for some reason when there used to be and there still is under some Windows 10 installs that I've seen. This is simply one of the most common threads that comes up in Google searches when people are having subwoofer issues with Realtek cards. So is anyone else having this problem, or am I the only one? I have researched the problem and have found absolutely nothing.Click to expand.Just for clarification, I am NOT trying to necro. I am very frustrated with this situation and have tried to roll back the driver to the original and update and uninstall, and nothing seems to have that good sound that my new XPS 15 had even before any settings or levels were changed. Days before my upgrade I tinkered with all of the settings in iTunes and on the computer and found the perfect sound for these built in speakers, so I am very disappointed that such beauty was ultimately destroyed by a new (supposedly better) driver - which was literally updated yesterday (7/30). Hi all, I just recently upgraded to Windows 10, and came to find out when I went to listen to my music that the bass sounded absolutely horrible (rattling and sounding like a broken speaker - and I assure you, my speakers are not broken).
